Two questions we get asked all the time, how do I promote my music? And, how do I get onto playlists? We’ve got some tips that might help.
After actually getting their music out onto the stores, the next thing artists want to know is how to promote their music. Unfortunately, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but getting playlisted is a great first step that every artist can do themselves.
Pitch to Spotify playlists
Ever since Spotify introduced the playlist pitching tool in Spotify For Artists, every artist who released music on the platform has been able to pitch their music to Spotify editors in the hope of being featured on any of the streaming service’s thousands of playlists.
We’ve written a whole step by step blog on how to use Spotify’s playlist pitching tool, complete with screenshots to guide you through.
Pitch to smaller playlists
While Spotify, Apple or Deezer owned playlists might be the holy grail of playlist promotion, don’t forget about the smaller curator playlists. Once again, we’ve got a blog that will take you through why and how to pitch to smaller playlists to help give your releases the boost they deserve.
Pitch to Spinnup playlists
Okay, we’re a bit biased here, but why not pitch to our own Spinnup playlists on Spotify? You can email firstname.lastname@example.org along with the link to your release on Spotify, and links to your social media accounts so we can tag you in any posts on our social media accounts.
As we’re lucky enough to get so many submissions we can’t guarantee all emails will be replied to or submissions will be featured. But we do promise to read every email and listen to every track.
